Fabricated City was directed by PARK Kwang-hyun for the first time in 12 years. No one knows it would take such a long time to meet his second movie, because he made his directorial debut with Welcome To Dongmakgol (2005) which topped the box office that year drawing eight million viewers.As a successful director like him returned in 12 years, it is harder to make a comeback for directors who failed at the box office. The Uninvited (2003)’s director LEE Soo-yeon plans to release Bluebeard this year in 14 years. She actually made a medium-length movie and joined omnibus project, but Bluebeard is her second feature that many people have been longing for. Her debut film The Uninvited was well received by critics for its keen insight and distinctive atmosphere, although it couldn’t appeal much to audiences who expected a traditional horror movie.The Truth Beneath (2016)’s director LEE Kyoung-mi is a similar case. She debuted with Crush And Blush in 2008, and her second feature released last year in eight years. Crush And Blush also received recognition from minority of spectators and critics, so we had to wait a long time to meet a new female character in Korean film history again. In addition, director E.oni came back with a new style of woman film MISSING (2016) in nine years after Love Exposure (2007).Moreover, LUCK-KEY (2016) was directed by LEE Gae-byok in 11 years after his debut film, The Beast and the Beauty (2005).
