The desire to put the moment back also delivers a sad echo in The Phone (2015). Dong-ho (SON Hyun-ju) receives a phone call from his deceased wife a year after the day of her murder. Due to extraordinary phenomenon of nature, electronic signals of a year ago overlap those of now. Dong-ho keeps running to prevent his wife’s death because he used to live feeling guilty not to be with her on the day.

Meanwhile, Calla (1999) makes a main character with the same desire back to the past. Sun-woo (SONG Seung-heon) falls in love with a woman at first sight but loses her on the day he would have a date with her for the first time. One day, three years after the incident, he finds himself in the time before she died. And then, there is a secret behind her death that he did not know.

Time travel sometimes takes heavy responsibilities rather than personal hopes. 2009 Lost memories (2002) is a sci-fi where the protagonist tries to correct the wrong history going back 100 years ago with a set of imaginary history that Joseon Dynasty did not gain independence from Japan.

However, even a year is not necessary, to say nothing of one hundred. Little events for a few minutes can change someone’s whole life or whole world. AM 11:00 (2013) is a story to travel just a day after, but there is a key to sway everyone’s destiny in the 24 hours.

Turning back time is an empty dream but no one can be free from the wish. Because if we made a small mistake, the mistake would still remain, we will want to go back to the day and retrieve our mistakes. There is no one who never regrets, so time leap movies will not disappear.
