Record-breaking Number of Entries for Film Festivals in Korea
Smaller film fests are active, too. The 14th
Green Film Festival in Seoul, which will be held on May 18th, broke the largest record ever. It received 1,550 entries (369 features and 1,181 shorts) from 104 countries for the Competition section, while 1,341 entries were submitted in 2016.
The 34th
Busan International Short Film Festival, which will kick off on April 25th, has much more submissions for its International and Korean Competition sections compared with other years. 4,278 entries from 114 countries were submitted to the International Competition section, which is the greatest number ever. It is more than doubled from 2,076 films from 94 countries of last year. Meanwhile, the number of entries for a new section from 2015, Korean Competition, was 839 up 1.2 times compared with last year’s 674 titles.
