How to Steal a Dog is a commercial feature that director KIM Sung-ho came up with after 11 years since Into The Mirror (2003) which received good reviews from international fantastic film festivals. The film based on a work by Barbara O'CONNOR, a famous writer in English-spoken countries tells a juicy story about the growth of a ten-year-old girl. There is a girl who lives in a car without her home. Her dream is to live happily in a home like others. So the girl wants to have a house. As good luck would have it, the girl comes across a flyer that offers money for those who find their missing dog. The girl maps out a plan to steal a dog first and return it for a reward. The target is ‘Wally,’ the dog of her rich neighbor grandma.

KIM Hye-ja will back to the screen after five years since Mother(2009) and make her presence felt as the owner of Wally. GANG Hye-jung, the heroine of director PARK Chan-wook’s Oldboy (2003) will make a comeback to the screen through this film after five years. In particular, GANG will show her maturity as well as uniqueness by playing a mother for the first time in her acting career after she was married. On the other hand, child actor Lee Re will play the girl, the female lead in this film. One more veteran actor will return to the screen by way of this film. He is CHOI Min-soo, a charismatic actor in Korean cinema who will make a comeback after nine years since Holiday (2005). CHOI will play a homeless man who becomes a mentor for the girl, Ji-so(LEE Re). Young actress LEE Re has turned 9 years old this year, and she has proven her acting talents through director LEE Joon-ik’s Hope (2013). Her lovely character and perfect interpretation of Ji-so makes her look like the lead of the film even with charismatic co-stars KIM Hae-ja, GANG Hye-jung and CHOI Min-su alongside her, making them look like supporting actors instead. KIM Sung-ho created a wonderful space with the elements of fantasies in this film as a director who majored in architecture after Into The Mirror. How to Steal a Dog will be a growth tale to children and a heart-warming fairy tale to adults. The film is now in the post-production stage and will hit theaters in December 2014.
