PIETA Regarded as the Best Film in 2012 by Reporters

CHOI Min-shik and CHO Min-soo Deemed Best Actor and Actress
KIM Ki-duk’s Pieta was selected as the best film in 2012 by the Korea Film Reporters Association (KOFRA). They held their 4th awards show on January 30th and picked KIM’s film as the film of the year. Pieta competed against Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time, Masquerade, and The Thieves.
The Best Director award went to CHUNG Ji-young, the director of Unbowed and National Security. The Best Actor of the year was CHOI Min-shik, who played the leading role in Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time. LEE Byung-hun of Masquerade, PARK Won-sang of National Security, SONG Joong-ki of A Werewolf Boy and HA Jung-woo of Nameless Gangster : Rules of the Time were strong competitors, but CHOI finally picked up the award. CHO Min-soo of Pieta received overwhelming support to win the Best Actress award.
The Best Supporting Actor award went to RYU Seung-ryong of All About My Wife and the Best Supporting Actress award to KIM Hae-sook of The Thieves. The Best New Actor was JO Jung-suk of Architecture 101 and The Best New Actress was KIM Ko-eun of Eungyo. The winner of the Best Independent Film award of 2012 was Two Doors. In the Foreign Language Film section, newly introduced this year, Les Miserables was supported by the most reporters. CHOI Yong-bae, the producer of 26 years, had the honor of receiving the award for Filmmaker of the Year.
