MIDNIGHT RUNNERS Director Continues Prolific Run

Even though his latest film The Divine Fury is still a few weeks away from release, director Jason KIM is wasting no time to get back in the director’s chair as he has assembled PARASITE star CHOI Woo-shik and GONG Myoung from Extreme Job to star in his fifth film Puppy (translated title).

CHOI and GONG will play young men with puppy-like charms in a story that will see them interact with a real dog.

Currently on screens in BONG Joon-ho’s PARASITE, which earned the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival last month and has already recorded over nine million viewers at the Korean box office, CHOI has been increasingly visible on the big screen of late, in films such as the action-thriller The Witch : Part 1. The Subversion (2018) and the period creature feature Monstrum (2018).

GONG was last seen in the sensational comedy hit Extreme Job, which welcomed over 16 million viewers after its Lunar New Year release earlier this year, becoming the second most successful Korean film of all time.

Jason KIM debuted as a filmmaker with two little-seen indies, including the well-reviewed 2013 comedy-drama Koala, before debuting to critical and commercial acclaim with his hit youth cop action-comedy Midnight Runners. Starring PARK Seo-jun and KANG Ha-neul, it became the sleeper hit of the 2017 summer box office season with over 5.6 million admissions. He returns this summer with the martial arts and supernatural thriller combo The Divine Fury, which reunited him with PARK Seo-jun and also features CHOI Woo-shik in a special appearance.

Puppy will enter production at some point in the second half of this year.
