CJ Entertainment to PRESS PLAY with New American Romantic Drama

Korean Studio Backs Music-Themed Project from Idea by THE FAULT IN OUR STARS Writer-Director

CJ Entertainment is continuing to expand its global slate of productions, having added the American romantic drama Press Play, featuring Clara RUGAARD and Lewis PULLMAN in the lead and Danny GLOVER and Lyrica OKANO in support, to its ever-growing portfolio of international projects.

The music-themed production, which began shooting in Hawaii last week, will be the feature debut of director Greg BJÖRKMAN, previously known for his work as a visual effects editor, who co-wrote the screenplay with James BACHELOR, from an idea hatched by The Fault in Out Stars writer/director Josh BOONE, who will also serve as a producer on the film.

Press Play will tell the story of a young woman (RUGGARD) who happens upon a chance to save the love of her life (PULLMAN) when she finds that a mixtape they had made together can transport her back in time.

RUGGARD recently appeared as the lead of the Netflix scifi-thriller I Am Mother, while PULLMAN will soon feature as one of the stars of the highly anticipated sequel Top Gun: Maverick alongside Tom CRUISE.

Also on board as producers are Francis CHUNG, the head of U.S. productions for CJ, Logan LERMAN and Jonathan SCHWARTZ. Jerry KO, head of international at CJ, and Paul DAVIS are executive producers while Fred LEE, Ini CHUNG and Mina HWANG will co-produce.

CJ is the top studio in Korea, responsible for the three best-performing local titles of the year to date, namely Extreme Job, BONG Joon-ho’s PARASITE and EXIT. Other international projects they have in development include US remakes of Extreme Job and their 2011 hit Sunny with Kevin HART and Universal.
