The
Busan International Film Festival has appointed KIM Bok-geun as the deputy director of the festival, a role that had remained vacant since the sudden passing of former Deputy Director KIM Ji-seok in May 2017. Meanwhile, former Korean cinema programmer
NAM Dong-cheol has stepped up to take on the position of program director, a role that was also formerly occupied by KIM Ji-seok.
NAM, who was the editor-in-chief of Korea’s leading film magazine Cine21 prior to joining BIFF in 2009 as the head manager of the
Asian Film Market, will be tasked with improving the festival’s programming system based on his extensive experience in the industry and programming sectors. Meanwhile, MUN Hyeon-jung, who has been with BIFF since 2008 in various capacities, was appointed as the new general manager of the festival office.
