The second edition of the Hallyu Cinema Festival, which runs from March 11 to April 7 in Tokyo, will introduce Japanese audiences to a total of 20 Korean films. Hosted by Japanese production/distribution company SPO, the festival will open with a screening of BYUN Young-ju's Flying Boys, with the director and rising actor On Ju-wan in attendance. Other films to be shown include Low Life (dir. IM Kwon-taek), Public Enemy (dir. KANG Woo-suk), Hi Dharma 2: Showdown in Seoul (dir. Yuk Sang-hyo), Spin Kick (dir. NAM Sang-guk), Steal It If You Can (dir. Im Kyung-soo), and other works. Many of the films are early works by actors who have since become popular stars, including SO Ji-seop, JO In-seong, KIM Jae-won, CHO Seung-woo, KIM Dong-won, etc. The first edition of the Hallyu Cinema Festival held last year attracted a total of 280,000 admissions, giving confirmation of a strong interest in Korean films among the Japanese populace.
