LEE Sung-gang's award-winning animated feature My Beautiful Girl, Mari is scheduled to be released in Japan in August. The film, about a boy in a seaside village who falls into a fantasy world, won the Grand Prix at the top-ranked Annecy International Film Festival in 2002. Right now it is receiving increased interest in Japan due to the fact that popular star LEE Byung-heon voices the role of the main character in his grown-up years. The film will be screened in its original version with subtitles. Advance screenings for the film have already started, and director LEE who is currently working on his second animated feature Cubby the Fox is scheduled to make a promotional visit to Japan.
