Global film organization the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) announced that the Korean city of Jecheon will host its 2013 general assembly, the AFCI Cineposium. The decision was finalized at the AFCI Locations Show in Los Angeles, USA, earlier this month. The event will be held September 5-9 so as not to overlap with the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival, the Busan International Film Festival, or any of Korea’s other distinguished festivals.

This being the first time in AFCI’s 38 years that they will hold the conference in Asia, its central topic will be “a meeting of film East and West.” With the invitation of world-class film experts, lectures and classes, and marketing events targeted at the Asian film industry, AFCI is expecting more global participation than ever before.

PARK Seong-woong, Jecheon’s Director of Administration and Welfare who participated in the decision-making process in Los Angeles, said “To make the 2013 conference most successful, Korea’s central government, North Chungcheong Province and the varied support facilities of Jecheon will do their very best.”
According to its Film Location Shooting Support System, AFCI collaborates with 350 film commissions from over 63 different countries, making it one of the world’s largest film organizations. Since its establishment in 1975, the non-profit organization has helped to provide billions of dollars of support to locations hosting movie and television filming and production.
