HOUSE OF HUMMINGBRID Tops 6th Korean Film Producers Association Awards

PARASITE Bags 3 Prizes at KFPAs

 

KIM Bora’s sensational debut film, the indie drama House of Hummingbird, has come away with the top prize, the Best Film Award, from this year’s 6th Korean Film Producers Association Awards. BONG Joon-ho was awarded Best Director for his comedy-drama satire PARASITE, which also earned prizes for Best Lighting and Best Production Design.

In the acting fields, Best Actor went to JUNG Woo-sung for the legal drama Innocent Witness while Best Actress went to JEON Do-yeon and her performance in the drama Birthday. OH Jung-se took home Best Supporting Actor for the period tap dance musical drama Swing Kids (2018) while the late JEON Mi-sun was posthumously awarded Best Supporting Actress for the period drama The King’s Letters, which was her final big screen appearance.

Swing Kids also took home the award for Best Music while the war film The Battle: Roar to Victory won multiple prizes, triumphing in the Best Cinematography and Best Sound categories. Financial drama Default (2018) picked up Best Screenplay, Best Editing went to the hit comedy Extreme Job and the Technical Award was won by the disaster comedy EXIT

This year’s Kreative Thinking Award was won by the comedy-drama Inseparable Bros, with the prize awarded to the production companies Myung Films and Joy Rabbit. Finally, the Lifetime Achievement Award was handed to veteran Director LEE Jang-ho, whose career has stretched since the 1970s to the present, with credits that include, Heavenly Homecoming to Stars (1974), Good Windy Days (1980) and The Man with Three Coffins (1988).
