SF Drama to be Produced by Dexter Studios
Currently, in between the two installments of his wildly successful
Along with the Gods franchise, director
KIM Yong-hwa is already setting the wheels in motion for his next film, which has been confirmed to be a sci-fi drama entitled
The Moon (transliterated title).
The Moon will depict the story of a man left alone in space following an unexpected accident, and the man back on earth trying to get him home. Currently, at the script and pre-visual stage, the project is eyeing a day and date release across Asia in 2019. The special effects-heavy production will once again rely on the in-house skills of
Dexter Studios, the Korean VFX giant that KIM founded during the production of
Mr. Go (2013).
Director KIM was known for his sports drama hit
Take Off (2009) and his ambitious 3D family drama
Mr. Go prior to scoring the all-time second best box office performance in Korea with his fantasy epic
Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds (2017), which welcomed over 14 million admissions following its release last December. Part two, titled
Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days, is scheduled for release on August 1.
In addition to The Moon, Director KIM is also working on the screenplay for Prodigal, a Marvel property that he has been developing with former Marvel chairman Stan Lee.
