BIFF Chairman KIM Dong-ho Becomes Co-chairman of New Marianas International Film Festival

Marianas International Film Festival Recruits Entries for its First Edition in December, 2017
 

KIM Dong-ho, the Chairman of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), will be a co-chairman of the 1st Marianas International Film Festival. The festival will take place in Saipan which is not only famous for its turquoise waters and natural environment, but is also remembered as a fierce battlefield between the United States and Japan during World War II.
 
The 1st Marianas International Film Festival was “launched to provide new platforms for the development and exchange of world film industries focusing on the United States, Korea, China, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan.” and “to contribute to world peace” Programmer LEE Bo-ik, the fest’s Korean representative, said on September 7th. Meanwhile, the kickoff ceremony for the festival took place on June 24th in China during the Shanghai International Film Festival. Chairman KIM was commissioned jointly with LI Qian Kuan, Chairman of the China Film Association, and WU Si Yuan, President of the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers at the event. 

The festival is now accepting entries on its official website (http://www.marianasiff.com). Films must be made after July 1st, 2016 and the submission deadline is September 30th, 2017. Finalist will be selected by judges from six countries (U.S., Korea, China, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan) and will be invited to the competition sections. From December 6th to 8th this year, the 1st edition of Marianas International Film Festival will be held in Saipan, Marianas Islands to promote world peace.
