CJ CGV Holds Screenwriting Contest for Vietnamese Youth

Submissions can be uploaded to CGV’s Vietnam Website Until July 8th
 

CJ CGV is holding a screenwriting contest in Vietnam. “CJ CGV will have a screenwriting contest to discover and foster talented Vietnamese youth with dreams of becoming filmmakers.” it said in a press release on June 13th 2017. 

This is the first contest to be held in Vietnam by CJ CGV and is organized “in order to discover and foster Vietnamese filmmakers between the ages of 18 to 35 for development of the local film industry”. The contest is for anyone who uploads ideas of 1,000 words on CGV Vietnam’s website until July 8th of this year. The company plans to select 24 ideas and to provide special lectures and mentoring programs by the end of August. 

Six mentors have been named for the program : Phan Gia Nhat Linh, director of Vietnamese remake of Miss Granny (2014) SWEET 20’s, director Charlie Nguyen, director Duc Thinh, director Le Thanh Son, director Dinh Tuan Vu and actor/producer Truong Ngoc Anh. In addition, five winners chosen among the completed scenarios through special lectures and mentoring programs will be granted cash prizes and supported for filming in Vietnam. 

Ahead of an announcement of the contest, CJ CGV held a related event at the Saigon Pearl in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on June 6th (local time) and said “This contest is expected to ramp up the development of the local film industry through continuous cooperation with the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and filmmakers.”
