CJ CGV Opened First 4DX in Qatar

The Seventh Country in the Middle East to Install 4DX
 

CJ CGV’s 4DX has expanded into Qatar. CJ 4DPLEX, CJ CGV’s subsidiary, opened its first 4DX screen partnering with VOX Cinemas, Middle Eastern cinema operator in Doha, Qatar on May 27th. Therefore, CJ CGV’s 4DX has been expanded in seven countries in the Middle East: Israel, UAE, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Egypt and Qatar. Since CJ CGV firstly opened 4DX screen in UAE in 2013, it has continued partnership with VOX Cinemas, Middle East’s largest cinema chains with 29 theaters and 284 screens in six countries. 

The first movie screened in the theater is The Fate of the Furious. The movie in 4DX made the biggest box office record in Israel in 2017 with over 85% market share on its opening day. “We are excited to open 4DX screens at the flagship theater, which debuted in Qatar”, said Cameron Mitchell, CEO of VOX Cinemas. In addition, CHOI Byung-hwan, CEO of CJ 4DPLEX said that “We are delighted to show our 4DX technology in Qatar, new center of the Korean wave in the Middle East.”

Meanwhile, CJ CGV succeeded the world first multi-sensory theater. There are more than 375 4DX screens in 48 countries including Korea, Europe, U.S., Central and South America, China and Japan.
