CJ Entertainment Reports Busy American Film Market

Sales for ASURA, Vietnamese THE HOUSEMAID and More
 

Top Korean distributor and sales outfit CJ Entertainment reported a slew of sales during the recent American Film Market, which was held in Santa Monica, California in early November. Among the popular titles on their sales slate were recent thriller Asura : The City of Madness, the Korean-Vietnamese horror The Housemaid and the incoming sports drama My Annoying Brother.

Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival this year, Asura : The City of Madness was directed by KIM Sung-soo and features JUNG Woo-sung alongside THE WAILING co-stars HWANG Jung-min and KWAK Do-won and more. The film went to Long Shong (Taiwan), Deltamac (Hong Kong and Macau), Bloomsbury (Mongolia), M Pictures (Thailand), Viva Communications (the Philippines), JBG Pictures (Australia and New Zealand), CJ Entertainment America (North America) and Splendid (German-speaking Europe), while MATV took Asian pay TV rights and Emphasis picked up the film’s in-flight rights for all territories save Korea.

From director Derek NGUYEN, the Korea-Vietnam co-produced horror The Housemaid was sold to Cai Chang (Taiwan), VSTV/Vietnam (Vietnam), Viva Communications (the Philippines), Medyavizyon (Turkey) and JBG Pictures (Australia and New Zealand).

KWON Soo-kyung’s sprots drama My Annoying Brother, featuring JO Jung-suk, PARK Shin-hye and K-pop boy band EXO member DOH Kyung-soo, went to Bloomsbury (Mongolia), Viva Communications (the Philippines), Cai Chang (Taiwan) and Deltamac (Hong Kong and Macau).
