PARK Shin-hye and RYU Jun-yeol to Co-Star in Chinese Thriller Remake

The Korean remake of the 2013 Chinese court thriller Silent Witness went into development in spring of 2015 and now the project is finally nearing production. Acting heavyweight CHOI Min-shik has been cast in the lead along with popular actress PARK Shin-hye and up-and-comer RYU Jun-yeol.

CHOI will play a corporate head whose fiancee is murdered, while his daughter (to be played by Familyhood’s LEE Soo-kyung) becomes the prime suspect.

Taking the director’s reigns is JUNG Ji-woo, who made the drama Eungyo in 2012 and delivered the indie drama Fourth Place, which debuted at the Busan International Film Festival last year.

Old Boy (2003) star CHOI last appeared in PARK Hoon-jung’s The Tiger (2015) and is currently filming the election drama Special Citizen with director PARK In-jae. PARK Shin-hye was last seen in a supporting role in The Beauty Inside (2015) and last year filmed the drama Brother with JO Jung-suk.

Rising star RYU Jun-yeol has appeared in several indie films, such as Socialphobia (2015) and One Way Trip, and is quickly entering the major league with upcoming roles in the highly anticipated releases The King and Taxi Driver. The film also features PARK Hae-joon, the lead of Fourth Place, and LEE Ha-neui of SORI: Voice from the Heart.

Silent Witness is being produced by Yong Film, which most recently worked on PARK Chan-wook’s The Handmaiden.
