The Jeonju International Film Festival
, Korea’s second largest film festival, has appointed academic LEE Chung-jik as its new director later last month. With the appointment ceremony held in Jeonju on 3 August, his three-year term has started immediately.
The festival organizing committee cited LEE's diverse experience in academia, filmmaking and policy in its decision to appoint him. LEE said he would focus on building on the festival’s “digital” “independent” and “alternative” cinema strengths.
