DAUGHTER Focuses on Mother-Daughter Relationship

Filmmaker, actress, singer and artist KU Hye-sun is up for a new challenge. She is set to write, direct and star in her next film Daughter. It is her first time taking up all three roles at the same time.

Daughter is about a relationship between an abusive, demanding mother and her daughter. Veteran actress SHIM Hye-jin (Lee Chang-dong’s Green Fish [1997]) will play the mother, while KU will be playing the daughter.

KU made her debut with a TV commercial in 2002 though she was already famous for her looks. After participating in the TV situation comedy Non-Stop 5 in 2004, she has been active in various fields. Her popularity reached its peak in 2009 when she took on the role of the stubborn yet cute Geum Jan-Di in Boys Over Flowers.

In 2009, she realized her dream of becoming a director through the short film The Madonna as well as releasing her full-length debut Magic in 2010. She released her second feature film The Peach Tree, starring actress NAM Sang-mi and actor JO Seung-woo, last year.
