Critics Week Goes for BREATHE ME

Jeonju Short Heads to Cannes

Following the invitations of Safe in the Official Short Film Competition and The Line (Seon) in the Cinefondation Selection last week, a third and final Korean short has made it onto the lineup of the 66th Cannes Film Festival, to take place from May 16-25.

Breathe Me, from director HAN Eun-young, will screen as part of the short film competition section of the 52nd edition of La Semaine de le Critique (Critics Week), along with nine other shorts from all over the world. Director HAN is a recent graduate from the Korea National University of Arts.

HAN’s film depicts A-young, a 17-year old who has just given birth near a railroad. Things go badly and her boyfriend rushes to find help, only to return to the scene after she’s left. But now the police, on seeing her blood at the scene, assume he is guilty of a terrible crime.

Breathe Me will receive its world premiere during the 14th Jeonju International Film Festival, which gets underway tomorrow. Though three shorts are making the trip to Cannes this year, La Croisette will not feature any Korean features in 2013.
