Veteran chief police detective Inho (Song Kangho) receives a tip that a man is threatening to commit a terror attack on a plane. During his investigation, he finds out that the suspect has boarded flight No. KI501. Despite his fear of flying, parent Jaehyuk (Lee Byunghun) decides to travel to Hawaii for the sake of his daughter's health. While going through the airport, he is distracted by a suspicious man who hangs around and speaks to them in a threatening way. The flight departs Incheon for Hawaii, but soon afterward, a man dies onboard under mysterious circumstances. Fear and chaos spread quickly, not only throughout the cabin but also on the land. Learning of the brewing crisis, Transport Minister Sookhee (Jeon Doyeon) sets up a counterterrorism task force and calls an emergency meeting during which they will try to find a way to land the plane.

Following his hit prosecutor saga The King (2017), director Han Jaerim returns to theaters with the big-budget aviation disaster film Emergency Declaration. The film assembles one of the most impressive casts ever featured in a Korean film, including luminaries, such as Song Kangho, Lee Byunghun, Jeon Doyeon, Kim Namgil, Im Siwan, Kim Sojin and Park Haejoon

The aviation disaster movie Emergency Declaration, which depicts the people who witness the unprecedented disaster at 28,000 feet with nowhere to escape, and the people who seek the best way on the ground to land them safely, was invited to an Out of Competition at 74th Cannes Film Festival.
