Song of the Poet is a documentary commemorating the 40th anniversary of the debut of Cheong Taechoon, a legendary music musician in the Korean folk music world. He is a representative Korean singer-songwriter who has made poetic lyrics and songs since his debut in 1978. Moreover, he is an icon of the spirit of the times who has led the way to gain freedom of expression and resisted the injustice of the times as well as his own musical achievements. 

Song of the Poet depicts the life and the songs of Cheong Taechoon in three dimensions, a musician and social activist who has decorated a chapter in the history of Korean pop music. In addition, the film also shows the harmony of Cheong’s life with Park Eunok, his music comrade, partner, and wife. The film included Cheong’s concerts held in 28 regions to commemorate the 40th anniversary of his debut with a total of 28 songs. It'll be a precious gift to his old fans. 

The documentary is also the directorial debut of Goh Youngjae, a leading Korean independent film producer. Goh Youngjae is the producer of Old Partner, the biggest hit film in the documentary world in 2009 with 2.93 million viewers. He also set a record in the Korean independent film industry through the marketing and investment of Yang Ikjune's Breathless (2009). Having produced and invested in more than 30 independent art films, Goh also proved his ability as a film director through Song of the Poet.
