Box Office Figures of the MISSION IMPOSSIBLE Series

Following the James Bond saga, the Mission Impossible series is one of the most successful spy movie series. In the first movie, released in 1996, special agent of IMF (Mission Impossible Force), Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) proved his ability as an agent when completing successfully his mission to keep a list of deep undercover CIA operatives. Hunt’s wire-supported drop from the high ceiling remains an iconic sequence and has in fact been repeated in every reboot movies. What’s more surprising and impressive is that Tom Cruise is known for doing all his stunts himself. Furthermore, the Mission Impossible series became a reliable franchise guaranteeing at each release good box office numbers. From J. J. Abrams’ Mission: Impossible 3 to Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation by Christopher McQuarrie, every sequel became a box office hit in Korea, attracting more than 5 million moviegoers. This recent sixth film has also recorded the franchise’s highest opening numbers in Korea so far, and has already gained huge popularity since its release on July 25th: Mission: Impossible - Fallout has recorded 3,299,739 viewers to date.
