Ocon is a 3D animation studio that is known for co-creating and co-producing Pororo. Founded in 1996, Ocon debuted in 1998 with <Lullurarra>, a weekly segment in TV show Inkigayo in which virtual dancers would introduce dance moves. After it signed a deal with Iconix Entertainment for the planning of their next projects, Ocon co-produced <Pororo the Little Penguin>, a series aimed at preschoolers, in collaboration with SK Broadband, public broadcaster EBS, and North Korean company Samcheolli. Since its first broadcast in 2003, the show has been extremely popular among Korean children. Its fame has become such that the main character is commonly referred to as “the children’s president”, and the Korea Post issued stamps with his image in 2011. Even though Ocon produced a TV movie in 2004, it wasn’t until 2013 that the studio first released a theatrical film in the Pororo franchise, <Pororo: The Racing Adventure> (2012). The series got three more feature films, with the most recent being <Pororo, Dinosaur Island Adventure> released in 2017. Ocon has created other franchises such as Dibo The Gift Dragon or, more recently, Toy Cop and Super Zach, but none of them reached the same level of success.Less
